Tango with God

You remember last time you felt heavy in your conscious. You felt there is nobody to talk to, and the things they weighted you heavily couldn’t be shared to Claudia as she was too young for it anyway – so you have decided to do something you didn’t do for decades. You visited a confession. Priest Elliot Gregory always seemed to be a nice man. You told him you are raising Claudia who is a daughter of  Hughie McMillan. You told the priest Hughie’s wife ran away to the USA. Later on, you realised you have to kep Claudia away from this man – because he knows your secret.

Hellfire Club

After you became a bigger name in Aetherwick, Lady Muriel Clubb returned. She had founded a special club with very special needs. You had become her best supplier. The Hellfire Club—a front for elite orgies. They needed animals, whores, sometimes things that lived, sometimes not. You delivered. Sometimes you joined in. But soon, you let Claudia handle it. All it took was covering the whores’ eyes. If they came back—fine. If not—even better. More profit. Less risk of exposure.

Sometimes, you visited yourself. But lately, Claudia goes in your place. She’s now an unofficial member.

She runs her business now thanks to you, and she is available to anybody for any price, but you don’t trust her, and you won’t give your girls or boys to the hand of a charlatan. 

Hughie McMillan (merchant, 55) 
Your first love—and your greatest weakness. You love him. You hate him. You’d never admit either, not even to yourself. He annulled your marriage and cast you into the gutter, yet somehow he still owns a piece of your heart. You slept with him again, long after that pain, because some part of you still wanted him. He might never know Claudia is his daughter… and that truth is your greatest secret.

Logan Ahern’s right hand. A monster in human skin. Silent, and terrifying. You’ve seen what he does to people who can’t pay. If Logan is the mind, Samuel is the hand—and one day, you’ll need to cut that hand off before it reaches for Claudia.

Neil Johnson (chief of police, 45)
You haven’t dealt with him directly, but you know enough. Secrets, confessions, sins he would never want aired. Claudia keeps an eye on him through the Hellfire Club. He’s guilty and desperate, and one day, that guilt will be your leverage.

A little fraud of a doctor. She paid you to forge a diploma for her. She might be treating poor cheaply, but she is still a charlatan.
