Maria Addams (30), middle class woman, but not an aristocrat, is coming to the Aetherwick with her whole family. Etheric woman shrouded in a veil of mystery, full of promises. What is her business in this corrupted city? Nobody knows, but she is definitely a name to count with.

Youth / Early life

Born of water and moon light, a nature spirit who possessed a human child and walked the Earth under the name of Morgana. You grew up in Avalon, raised in the shadow of witch priestesses and silent gods who treated human memory like a toy. Even as a child, you knew you would be different. While others feared the night, you talked to it.

Later, you were sent to study at the human court, where you were to be your family’s asset – a beautiful pawn in the power game. That’s You thought where you met Arthur. A brother. A lover. An enemy. Fate.

You were friends. You were lovers. 

But you both were growing old. 

Source of power

By taking human form, you gain the power to manipulate the reality, but also became bounded by its laws. It was one of your own kind, Lug, an old god of war and magic, who showed you the way for such a little price as is a pleasure of flesh you were freely giving as it meant little to you. He knew how to draw a strength and avoid final death: by drawing from the forces of darkness, alive on human misery.

In the early ages, you spread misery by sawing wind, and reaping storm, bringing pain and tears to human life, orchestrating wars and deaths of dozens, creating suffering feeding your powers which were giving you life. That’s when Arthur turned against you, as he finally saw what you were doing, and he expelled you of his court. 

So you lied with Lug again, and under a magic veil, you lied with Arthur as well, and by this unholy union, you brought to the world an offspring  of Chaos – Puck, who took mortal form of Mordred. He led war against Arthur, mortally wounded him in the battle, and almost died as well. 

You performed the finally rite for the one you loved so deeply in the past, and carried Arthur to Avalon, where he finally let out his last breath in your loving embrace. 

Avalon

All three of you – Lug, a god forgotten, a Puck, half-human child whose human form was death, and you, thief of a flesh, grief stricken and fading – fell into a long hibernation in the Avalon, but flow of time brought you back. As human discovered a mystical Island shrouded in the fog, without even knowing what they found, you woke up back to life, weak as a newborn cats, but hungry, so incredibly hungry. 

So you boarded one of the boats and left the place, to learn the world has changed. It was out of your scope to create wars, so you learned a new way to live. You discovered a new source of misery. Rumors. Gossips. Dark secrets, whispered in the dark, given willingly,  little betrayals which, when revealed to the world, were causing as much pain as the most devastating wars, because wars were damaging flesh, but betrayal was damaging soul. And that’s how you feasted. 

Inquisition

Then you finally met your match, a faithful servants of a jealous God. Devils who found a way to exterminate devils. Holy inquisition. They were hunting your kind down, destroying most of you. They got the three of you as well, almost killing you… but you survived. And slowly, you started to return to your power. 

Muriel

You met Muriel almost two decades ago. You wear a form a beggar, living in the street, when you got a copper coin from a young little girl, and that girl needed to ease her heavy heart… so she told you about her father, who tutored, raped, murdered, and buried a rich girl he tutored in his basement. You felt your strength returning. When you whispered what you know to the ear of young police man, your strength grew even bigger. And as the murderer was hanging from the tree, you gathered enough strength to take a form of a poor woman. 

Return

It took you many years to recover your old self. When you felt better, you found a Lug, who was lying in the cemetery as an old ghost, terrifying night guards. Together, you gathered Puck, who was dancing in the forest as a chaotic sprite he truly was. And together, you had decided to return to Avalon, to the new city that stood there: Aetherwick. 

Clubbs

You already bought a house. Then, you seek out Muriel. She did well for herself. She is an aristocrat now, a wealthy widow who took another lord, a handsome man one year younger then her, and she is keeping him under her thumb. She also founded a Hellfire club, a place of devilish worship, where she is gathering all the most powerful people in the city. That would be a place to go. 

You asked her to introduce your family. You will be renowned as the ones who can offer a great price for something as little as is a little secret. 

Glen Addams (40) / Lug (unknown)
Your husband. Once, a proud war god, today, a broken shell of his previous glory. Whatever love, bound or connection you felt to him, when you brought him back to life, it is fading, and his depression is causing you to question your choice. In the same time, you pity him. You, as well, had been burdened by the suffering of ages, and his presence is swaying you to tempting abyss of forgottenness. Can you rekindle his fire, or would it be better to let him die? 

Abner Addams (15) / Puck (1500)
Son of you, Lugh and Arthur, a creature of mischief and chaos. He both loves you as a mother and a woman, and hates you as someone who forced him to battle with Arthur and die. But when you called him, he came back. Even in his half-dead state, there is so much life in him, which draws you closer to him. And so much madness it terrifies you. 

Ned Jemmy (40)
Tax Collector of Aetherwick… but also something more. You don’t know what it is yet… but you know the moment you saw him, your heart started to drum, your knees went soft, and even though he is not especially handsome man, you desired his presence and love. And that terrifies you. 

Lady Muriel Clubb (34)
Used to be a poor girl, whose shared secret brought you back to power. You gave her a secret of poison and love potion as a reward which brought her the love of rich man. You know she is a widow who married again for an aristocrat. The Ugly Duckling success story. A black veils aura surrounds her, as she holds no morals, no restrictions. The most dangerous woman you have ever met. Very much like you. She runs something called “Hellfire club” – a place of devils workship for rich. You asked her to introduce you there, so you can start to collect your dirty little secrets… and get back to power. 

1. You and your family are not human
   Some might be calling you gods, some devils or demons. It doesn’t matter. The simple truth is… you are dependent on other humans as you feed on their souls.
2. Betrayal is what gives you power
   There are other ways to gain power, you know, but you don’t know them. Sawing wind of betrayal has proven to be the most effective one. And very pleasurable, in a way. It is not enough to hear someone’s secret, you need to spread it to the world to reap its effect. Because someone’s always suffer, when secret is whispered to the right ear, and their pain and tears are like a water and air to you.
3. You are mortal
   There is many ways for gods to die. To run out of your magical powers means you will fade away. 
   To destroy your mortal form means you will become spirit again, unable to influence the world around you. 
   And then, there is a God-killer – which represents a final death for any of you. Once, it almost got you. If you are hit by a God-killer, you are loosing 3 resistance points at once.
4. You are obsessed with Ned Jemmy
   You can’t even call it love, because this is a clear obsession. You desire him. You want him. You dream about him. You want to protect him. And you hate him in the same time. You didn’t feel anything like this for… for about half of second millennia. 

1. Collect 40 secrets to restore your power
When you will collect and release to the world 40 different secrets, your divine power will come back. No mere human being will be able to resist your charm (but gods and some special individuals might). You will be free to start your cult, or anything else that will please you at the moment. 

2. Spread around information that you can give help for a very little price
Seek the weak. Seek the desperate. Seek the powerful and greedy. Use their weaknesses and vulnerabilities. It looks so easy, right? Just tell me one little secret, and I am going to give you power… or anything else you desire. I can give you strength to fight an oppression. I can make others to fall in love with you. I can do so many things. Just tell me little secret. It will start in the Hellfire club, where you have to play it as a clever girl. But there are many other places. Won’t poor need your help? The sick? the suffering? Women? Police? Literally anyone could use a bit of magic in their life, no? 

3. Gain influence over Lug
When it comes to a brutal strength, Lug was always the more dangerous out of two of you. He played the role of protector, and a brute force, and he loved you, thus doing what you asked him. You used to love him as well, otherwise you wouldn’t bring him back to life. But was it a mistake? You can’t read him recently. What is he thinking about? He looks likes he is ready to die, but isn’t walking that road yet. He watches other women a lot… which is not acceptable for you, because he is yours man! And you fear what would happen if he would decided to destroy you. You need to regain your influence over him. Through love, through manipulation… or you need to get rid of him. It would be better than being endangered by him, or replaced by another woman. 

4. Control Puck
Puck was always a wild card. Deep down, he is simply a big angry child longing for love, and you fear you were giving him too little of it. You used him as a tool, in the end, a tool to end Arthur. Since Puck couldn’t get a motherly love from you, he tried to get the love of a woman and seduce you. You never let him, but you have to admit he has a lot of charm, when he wants to. There is a lot of power in him, but the wrack havoc he can cause is potentially dangerous. You need to find a means of controlling him, or he might end you all. 

5. Hide from withchunters
The inquisition got you once, and you know they are coming back. You need to thread carefully not to get into their sight, and if you spot their representatives, it might be clever to take a direct action and destroy them once and for all.
