Silas David (35) came to Aetherwick from the Vatican to spread the word of God and cleanse this unholy city of all its sin. His voice is strong, his aura irresistible, and his passion fearsome. His mere presence strikes terror into the hearts of sinners.

Your mother was a whore. You were raised in a brothel, but lucky enough to be saved by a police raid and placed in a monastery orphanage. As a good boy, you followed the voice of God and did everything the priests told you. Thanks to your unwavering faith, you found your way to the Vatican, where you became part of the Exorcist Wing. There, you learned the true nature of godhood—there are many gods, but you are a soldier of Jeshua. Your task is to eradicate all false gods and all who stray from the righteous path of God and Christ.

The astrologs have predicted that rivals to God are gathering power in Aetherwick. Though the details are scarce, one thing is certain: three enemies are coming. They have one strong supporter, one weak, one hidden, and a host of unwilling followers. You have been sent to investigate—and to prove yourself in your first mission.

You’ve done your research.

  • There are rumors of a Hellfire Club—a den of sin and devil worship. It must be purged.
  • You’ve heard that homosexuality is spreading in the city. That is a sin against God and must be punished.
  • A great industrial revolution is underway, threatening to replace man with machine. You are to determine whether this is the work of dark, unholy magic. If so, it must be stopped. The man behind it is merchant Bradley Harrington (42).
  • You’ve also identified the city’s most visible supporter of the faith: merchant Hughie McMillan (55). He may prove a valuable ally.

There are two priests in Aetherwick:

  • Bishop Columbus Ede (45). Nothing overtly negative appears on the surface, but archives hint at past sodomy during his convent days. If he proves to be a corrupt servant of God, you will need to remove him.

  • Elliot Gregory (35). A local priest about whom you’ve heard nothing—though that, in your mind, is better than sodomy. You’ve decided to use his church as your shelter. If Ede is compromised, Gregory may be a candidate to replace him—or perhaps you will need to assume that mantle yourself.

Then, there are the corrupting forces:

  • Merrill Collins (42), a foul woman running a prostitution empire. The city must be cleansed of her. She may be one of the Three.

  • Logan Ahern (42), a man who poisons minds through gambling and vice. His operation must be burned to ash. He may be the strong supporter.

  • Linda Richey (25), an independent woman—and a journalist. A travesty. You cannot understand why she hasn’t already been imprisoned or institutionalized. You will do everything in your power to ensure that happens. Possibly one of the Three.

  • Ruby Conray (30), a female doctor. The very thought offends you. Who would entrust their life to such a person? You suspect witchcraft and will put an end to her practices. Possibly one of the Three.

  • Bruno Turner (40), an openly atheist doctor. Madness. You must investigate what horrors he is unleashing on the people of Aetherwick.

As Silas David doesn’t really knows anybody in the city, here are his main standpoints in life.

Silas David doesn’t truly know anyone in the city yet, but his worldview is firm and absolute:

  • There are many gods—but only one is the true God.

  • Man is above woman. Woman was made to serve him.

  • Whatever does not come from God is witchcraft and wizardry.

  • Anything that draws a man away from devotion to God—be it alcohol, drugs, gambling, or sex—is a sin.

Though he holds no legal authority in this secular state, and cannot directly command other priests, Silas has powerful contacts in the Vatican. Should a priest fall out of favor, he can have them removed from office upon his return. And though he may be imprisoned or silenced, he knows the Church will eventually see to his release. This certainty gives him a dangerous kind of immunity—even in matters as severe as murder.

1. He is the son of a prostitute.

  • Knows: Silas
  • Shouldn’t find out: The public. It would undermine his authority and his claim to moral superiority.

2. The Vatican knows there are many gods.

  • Knows: High-ranking members of the Vatican, Silas David.
  • Shouldn’t find out: The public, local clergy, and especially the devout, who believe in the exclusivity of the Christian God.

3. Silas was trained as an exorcist to eliminate other gods and their worshippers.

  • Knows: Silas, Vatican.
  • Shouldn’t find out: Public. If revealed, it could be seen as religious warfare or heresy by secular authorities.

4. He suspects Bishop Columbus Ede once engaged in sodomy.

  • Knows: Silas (based on archive research).
  • Shouldn’t find out: Public, especially the church hierarchy and local religious community.

5. He intends to remove Bishop Columbus Ede if he proves corrupt or impure.

  • Knows: Silas.
  • Shouldn’t find out: Bishop Ede, public, and church officials in Aetherwick.

1. To identify and eliminate the three enemies of God.
The stars have revealed the presence of three powerful adversaries working against Jeshua. Silas was sent by the Vatican to uncover their identities, determine which is strongest, and eradicate them through holy judgment.

2. To dismantle the Hellfire Club and bring its members to justice.
A whispers of hub for devil worship and moral decay, the Hellfire Club, a nest of sin. Silas aims to uncover its members and have them publicly condemned and punished—ideally burned in the fire of God’s wrath (or, in secular terms, convicted and imprisoned).

3. To determine whether Bishop Columbus Ede is a worthy servant of God.
There are rumors from the archives of unholy behavior in the Bishop’s past, particularly related to sodomy. Silas must investigate his moral fitness to lead the Church in Aetherwick and, if necessary, prepare for his removal.

4. To evaluate whether Elliot Gregory is a suitable candidate for bishop.
Father Gregory appears humble and committed to the poor. If Bishop Ede is removed, Silas wants to know if Gregory can replace him—or whether Silas must assume the bishopric himself.

5. To eradicate all traces of homosexuality from the city.
Homosexuality is, in Silas’s eyes, an open rebellion against divine order. Any public or secret relationships of this kind must be rooted out, exposed, and punished—through public shame, exile, or worse.

6. To destroy the prostitution trade and cleanse its corruption.
Silas sees the sex trade, especially under Merrill Collins, as a core pillar of demonic influence. The brothels must be shut down, the women “redeemed” or locked away, and the ringleaders judged.

7. To eliminate all gambling and hazard dens.
Gambling is a sin of greed and chaos. Logan Ahern, who leads this world of hazard and vice, must be brought down, and his empire torn apart by righteous force.

8. To assess whether industrial machines are the work of the devil.
Bradley Harrington’s new machines threaten to replace human labor. Silas fears that their power may not be entirely natural—and could be driven by sorcery, infernal deals, or unholy inspiration.

9. To subdue and reassign women who usurp male roles in society.
Women like Ruby Conray and Linda Richey are symbols of moral collapse—unmarried, independent, and daring to hold power. Silas intends to see them placed in prison, madhouses, or married off into submission.

10. To silence and remove outspoken atheists, especially Doctor Bruno Turner.
Atheists, especially vocal ones, are a direct threat to divine order. Turner, who mocks the faith and treats sinners without judgment, must be exposed, discredited, and removed from public influence.

11. To build a base of loyal allies in the clergy and among the faithful.
Silas knows he needs influence. Hughie McMillan, Elliot Gregory, and others could become essential allies for future purges.

12. To secure his own rise within the Church hierarchy.
This is Silas’s first mission—if he succeeds, he might rise to cardinal one day. Failure is not an option. Every action he takes is meant to prove his worth to Rome.

13. To prepare for a future holy inquisition in Aetherwick.
If successful, Silas envisions a city governed by godly law, with courts enforcing divine morality. His current actions lay the foundation for a long-term spiritual conquest.
